Annabel Jane Rook 1979-2025

Annabel was a theatre maker and drama facilitator who worked in arts for social change for 20 years, before she co-founded MamaSuze in 2021. She co-created award winning grassroots projects for female survivors of trafficking and unaccompanied minors, worked in a refugee camp in Ghana and in safe houses for women in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. She was also a Director of Feedback Theatre, where she co-founded the Luna Project, for trafficking survivors, in London.

Annabel lived every day with passion and purpose, believing that we must be the change we want to see in the world. We will all remember the joy, warmth and dedication she radiated and try not to fall into despair, but continue her vital work and live our lives as she did.

Her extraordinary legacy continues through the MamaSuze community. We know she would be so proud of all we are continuing to achieve. We will love and miss her forever.

Please donate here via this GoFundMe page so we can continue the work she started.

MamaSuze : we exist to enhance the lives of survivors of forced displacement and gender based violence via weekly workshops in different art forms. MamaSuze aims to provide a welcoming, joyful space where women can socially interact, be creative and play together, strengthening confidence, resilience and identity.
